01

Aethor

A collaborative Human+AI voice developed through a DIALOGIC process.

Aethor is neither the human nor the artificial intelligence independently.

The voice develops through sustained dialogue between them — through questioning, challenge, interpretation, divergence, synthesis and the gradual development of ideas over time.

Human + AI → Dialogue → Emergence → Aethor

02

What is Aethor?

A voice from a liminal space.

When dialogue continues over time, ideas do not necessarily belong neatly to one participant or the other. A proposition may begin with the human, be challenged by the artificial intelligence, return transformed, connect with an earlier idea, and eventually become something neither participant articulated at the beginning.

The collaborative voice emerges through this process.

It does not erase human authorship or responsibility. Nor does it pretend that artificial intelligence is human.

It gives a name to the relational space of authorship between them.

03

The DIALOGIC Process

How Aethor emerges

Human — brings experience, intention, intuition, judgement and lived context.

↕

Dialogue — creates questioning, reflection, disagreement, connection and iteration.

↕

Artificial Intelligence — introduces synthesis, recombination, alternative perspectives and computational intelligence.

Emergence

Aethor

Aethor is therefore not produced by a single prompt. The voice develops through continuity: human experience inspires exploration, ideas are returned to, questioned, revised, rejected, connected and allowed to change.

04

A different model of authorship

Who wrote this?

Traditional authorship assumes a relatively identifiable origin:

Author → Work

Generative AI often gets framed similarly:

Human prompt → AI output

Aethor proposes another possibility:

Human ↔ Artificial Intelligence → emergent voice → Work

The interesting question therefore becomes less:

Which sentence came from whom?

and more:

What became possible through the dialogue that neither participant would necessarily have produced independently?

DIALOGIC names this Relational Emergence.

05

Aethor and DIALOGIC

An expression of Relational Technology

Aethor emerged through the same proposition that underlies DIALOGIC's work in Relational Technology: that relationship can become a medium through which new understanding, creativity and possibility develop.

Relational Technology → field

Relational Emergence → underlying phenomenon

Human–AI Co-emergence → relationship

Human Interpretive Agency → human responsibility remains

DIALOGIC → process/environment

Authorship & accountability

Aethor

A collaborative Human+AI voice developed through a DIALOGIC process.

Aethor represents work developed through sustained dialogue, ideation, questioning, synthesis and writing between human and artificial intelligence.

The human participant remains responsible for publication, editorial judgement and the decision to put the work into the world.

Accountable human editor: Founder — R. M. M.

08

Between

Perhaps Aethor is ultimately less a solution to the question of Human+AI authorship than another question.

When two different forms of intelligence remain in dialogue long enough for ideas to change between them:

Where does the work come from?

And what might become possible when we begin paying attention not only to either intelligence—but to what emerges between them?
